Normandy Four meeting will launch ‘Winter package’ of gas supplies

The results of Normandy Four meeting regarding issues of implementation of gas supply “winter package” for Ukraine will be a signal to Ukraine to sign the agreement and transfer the funds, Joinfo reports with the reference to Interfax.

Gazprom has already sent to Naftogaz the contract in which the “take or pay” condition was excluded . The Russian side has already signed a protocol on “winter package”.  Normandy Four meeting will be the signal for Naftogaz to transfer the funds to Gazprom for gas supplies to Ukraine “, – an informed source said to the agency.

It should be recalled that  on September 25, the gas talks between Ukraine and Russia on restoring the transit of the natural gas, brokered by the EU, reconciled the cost for Ukraine till March 2016.

According to the signed protocol, Ukraine secures the gas transit to the EU through the territory of the country, and also pumps 2 billion cubic meters into the  gas storage for the period October 2015. The obligation of the Russian Federation is to reduce the price for Ukraine to the level close to near European countries’ price in the last quarter of 2015 and the first quarter of 2016. The EU will ensure financing on behalf of various international financial institutions. The European Commission said that at least $500 million under that aid should be available by the end of this year.
