More than 100 UN member states support amendment to the UN Charter, initiated by France, regarding veto right restriction. This was announced by Yuriy Sergeyev, head of Ukraine’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations In an interview to Ukrainian media in New York, Joinfo.ua reports.

“It is a complex issue, so we hope that the UN members, which have the veto right, will find a way to avoid the veto regarding open conflicts, which threaten people’s lives,” – the diplomat said.

It should be recalled that Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in his speech at the 70th UN General Assembly said that “primary attention should be given to the modernization of the UN Security Council – including enlargement of its membership and improvement of methods of its work”.
