NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that any elections in certain territories of Donbas held not under the Ukrainian legislation will be a direct violation of the Minsk Agreements and will not be recognized in the world, Joinfo.ua reports citing the press service of the President of Ukraine.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during a joint press conference in Yavoriv training ground (Lviv region) after a visit to the training center of the Civil Defence Forces.
“Any elections in certain territories of Donbas held not under the Ukrainian legislation will not be recognized in the world and will be considered a violation of the Minsk Agreement”, – Secretary General said.
“They will be considered as fake and will not be recognized by any country member of the Alliance”, – Stoltenberg said.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko stated that “these irresponsible decisions pose a serious threat to the Minsk process just like the elections of November 2, 2014 that ruined all the efforts under the Minsk protocol and Minsk memorandum of September 5 and September 19, 2014”.
It should be recalled that Alexander Zakharchenko, the leader of so-called DPR, put his signature under the “decree” on the elections to be held jn October 18, 2015. After that the leader of self-proclaimed LPR Igor Plotnitskiy copycatted the head of DPR and signed a ‘decree’ to hold illegal elections in LPR on November 1, 2015.
