Nadiya Savchenko, pilot of AFU and Member of European Parliament, was brought to Donetsk City Court of the Rostov region (RF) today, for hearing on the merits, her lawyer  Ilya Novikov informed, Joinfo.ua reports.

At the hearing, which will be public, the prosecutor are going to announce charges. Also, the alleged victims, relatives of the murdered journalists, witnesses and experts will be questioned today.

“Apparently, Nadiya Savchenko will testify before the prosecution will get a chance to present some of his evidence. We want our point of view on the events sounded the first “, – said the lawyer.

Novikov said that the defense intends to return Russian prosecutors to the question of “why they believe that they have the right to judge someone for an offense committed on the territory of Ukraine, as they believe that it was committed by Ukrainians against the Ukrainians.”

“There are six more victims in the case, beside Russian journalists, all are local residents,” – he added.

Increased security measures were taken at the time of delivering Savchenko at the courthouse. The location of the courthouse were surrounded by reinforced police squads and Cossacks.

It should be recalled that earlier Ilya Novikov, the lawyer, said that his client would be liberated due to diplomatic pressure.

It shold be mentioned too, that recently  the battalion “Dnepr-1″ publicated video, which completely refutes the allegations of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation against Nadiya Savchenko.
