Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree “On the decision of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated September 2, 2015″ On application of special economic personal and other restrictive measures (sanctions), and introduced new sanctions against Russia, regarding persons involved in the annexation of the Crimea and aggression in the Donbas.
It should be noted that even before the signing the president called for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia as a response to the announced unauthorized elections in Donbass. According to the president, these elections make it impossible to execute any Minsk agreements.
Earlier the authorities of so-called DPR want to hold local elections in the ‘Republic’ on October 18, 2015. This direct violation of the Minsk Agreements may entail the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.

“This adventurous, irresponsible decision needs our clear, coordinated response to the threat posed to the Minsk Agreements, as the continuation and expansion of sanctions, to ensure the decisive steps that will allow us to strengthen the defense of not only Ukraine but the whole European Union, because now it is a war not only for sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, but also for the freedom, democracy and European values ”, – the president stressed.
These sanctions will be applied for one year against 400 legal entities and 90 individuals who are responsible for criminal activity on the territory of Ukraine .
