The Normandy Four has agreed upon some steps towards peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Donbas. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor, French President and President of Russia, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the head of state.

The parties discussed the state of fulfillment of the Minsk  agreements and the results of the last meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group and its four working subgroups, which took place on September 8 in Minsk.

The intercolutors have noted a significant progress on the way to a ceasefire and emphasized the need to sign the document on withdrawal  of tanks, cannons caliber under 100 mm, mortars under 120 mm from the contact line under proper monitoring, as well as verification of the regime of withdrawal by the OSCE SMM inspectors, in particular through the establishment of permanent settlements along the line of contact. The President also noted the need for withdrawal of all foreign troops from the occupied territories and restoration of Ukraine’s full control over the state border.

The leaders of Ukraine, Germany and France have agreed that the pseudoelections in some areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions would be a violation of the Minsk agreements and jeopardize the entire process of further political settlement.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko called for the immediate liberation of all Ukrainian hostages, including those who are illegally detained in Russian prisons – Oleh Sentsov, Oleksander Kolchenko and Nadiya Savchenko.

The Normandy Four agreed upon the further schedule of meetings in the Normandy format: meeting of foreign ministers will be held in Berlin on September 12, and the Summit is scheduled for early October in Paris.
