Russian paratroopers are put on alert under the sudden operational readiness check, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
“Three units of the Airborne Troops in Ivanovsk, Ulyanovsk and Volgograd regions were alerted during a sudden check of combat readiness of the troops of the Central Military District. During the day, its activities involved a total of about 10,000 paratroopers,” the report says.
Currently there is being conducted the transfer of airborne units to the designated area. To perform this operation, there were made more than 40 flights of the IL-76 crew from the airfields Vostochnyi (Ulyanovsk) and Severnyi (Ivanovo).
In addition, in the Volgograd and Ulyanovsk regions, at the railway stations there is being completed the compilement of two military trains.
It should be recalled that after his visit to China, President Vladimir Putin immediately put the troops in Siberia, the Urals and the Volga region on alarm.
“In accordance with his (Putin – Ed.) decree, starting from 9:30 a.m. Moscow time, district troops, part of the air forces of other military districts, Airborne Troops and Transport and Military Aviation are put in full combat readiness,” said the Russian Defense Minister.
