According to President Francois Hollande, in the event of derailment of the local elections in the eastern regions of Ukraine in accordance with Ukrainian legislation and amendments to the Constitution on decentralization, the new sanctions against Russia will remain in force, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Reuters.
At a press conference in Paris, Hollande recalled that the Minsk agreements provided for the holding of local elections. He emphasized: “If this process is observed, I will take measures for the lifting of sanctions, as it is also the condition that was put forward.”
In addition, according to Hollande, in the coming days there will be held a meeting of foreign ministers of the Normandy Four. At the same time, the French President offered to organize a meeting directly with the leaders of the Normandy Four in Paris before the meeting of the UN General Assembly.
Earlier, a source in diplomatic circles told that on September 9, there will be held the phone talks in the Normandy format.
