Hearings of case of Nadiya Savchenko in Donetsk start from September 15

Preliminary hearings of the case of the Ukrainian pilot and MP Nadiya Savchenko will start in the Donetsk City Court on September 15, according to the press-secretary of the Donetsk City Court Tatiana Dieva.

According to Dieva, the case of Savchenko was returned to the Donetsk City Court from the Rostov Regional Court, where the issue of jurisdiction was being considered. Preliminary hearings are scheduled for September 15, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

The case of Nadiya Savchenko was originally sent to the Donetsk City Court (Rostov Region). The defense of the Ukrainian pilot tried to appeal against the decision through the superior Regional Court, which on August 21 did not support the protest and left the case in Donetsk. The defense did not appeal against this verdict.

It should be recalled that Nadiya Savchenko was abducted by the Luhansk militants in June 2014 and taken to Russia. Since then, she has been kept in prisons. Savchenko is accused of involvement in the murder of two Russian journalists and illegal crossing of the border with Russia. The defense of the Ukrainian woman has repeatedly proved the falsity of these allegations.
