Occupied territories of Donbas now wants independent elections, but OSCE Mission does not respond for some reason

The occupied Donbas now consistently goes for violation of the Minsk agreements, intending to hold elections without the consent of Kyiv and according to some 'laws of the DPR.'

Information resources of separatists show that the occupied territories of the Donbas today intend to hold illegal elections without the consent of Kyiv. The DPR leaders sent the invitation to monitor the local elections in the DPR to the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), but have not yet received a response, said the head of the Donetsk militants Alexander Zakharchenko, Joinfo.ua informs referring to DAN.

“We have not received any response yet,” Zakharchenko said, noting that the issue of the presence of international observers at the elections was discussed the day before, on September 1, during a video conference of the Contact Group on peaceful settlement.

On the morning of August 31, The DPR authrities sent an invitation to the ODIHR to supervise the local elections.

The militants intend to hold local elections on October 18, 2015, calling it the fulfillment of the Protocol of the Minsk Agreement of September 5, 2014 and the Complex of measures of February 12, 2015. However, these elections are not planned to be held in accordance with the Ukrainian legislation, as agreed under the Minsk Agreement. The leaders of militants refer to certain “Constitution of the DPR”, its “laws” and the provisions of the Law of Ukraine on the special status of the Donbas, which should come into force after the return of the control over the border with Russia in the Donbas to the official authorities, but this, as it is known, has not yet happened.

In addition, resources of separatists gladly report that the number of members of the Young Republic public organization has increased by approximately two thousand people during August 2015.

“Now our public organization Young Republic numbers 11,818 active members. In August, our team has increased by two thousand people,” the organization reports.

As of August 3, the youth wing of the ruling movement Donetsk Republic consisted of 9,887 people.
