“This is a very conditional amendment. It doesn’t provide the special status of Donbass. It doesn’t take into account the interests of people who live in the east of Ukraine. This is, in my opinion, a fig leaf, by which Poroshenko tries to hide behind before the European Union’s sight, before Merkel and Hollande, to show them that he implements the conditions of Minsk agreement”, – Alexei Pushkov, the Head of the State Duma Committee on Foreign Affairs stated in his interview to Russia24, Joinfo.ua reports.
Pushkov also bewailed the fact that despite the fact that the idea of a “united Ukraine still dominates,” even “Poroshenko’s timid attempts to implement Minsk agreement’s conditions are met by the stiff resistance of radicals.”
It should be recalled that earlier the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland congratulated Ukraine with the adoption in the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading of the draft amendments to the Constitution in terms of decentralization.
