Alexander Lukashenko emphasized the need to strengthen the border with Ukraine,  Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Charter 97.

“We do not hide the fact that we need to strengthen the southern borders. And it is not because we are afraid of the Ukrainians or that someone can attack us there. We would not like to have all sorts of units especially with weapons, which are unnecessary in Belarus, come here as a result of what is happening in Ukraine,” said Lukashenko.

“It must alarm us all the time. This is the problem we have to solve, no one will solve it for us,” the president added.

In addition, the head of state was briefed on the optimization of the Armed Forces. The attention was focused, in particular, on creation of new weapons.

Earlier, Lukashenko stated that there would be no intervention from Belarus in the territory of Ukraine.
