Russia has expanded the existing food embargo against Albania, Montenegro, Iceland and Liechtenstein. In the list, Ukraine is ‘on special conditions’, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.

The restrictions on the import of products from Ukraine will take effect if the association agreement with the European Union comes into force. “The support of other countries for the sanctions meant their readiness for Russia’s counter measures,”  Medvedev explained.

It should be recalled that in late July, Montenegro, Albania, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Ukraine have supported the EU extended sanctions against Russia.

The expanded U.S. sanctions against Russia have come into force on August 11. By expanding the list of sanctions against certain Ukrainian officials back from the criminal regime of Yanukovych and persons involved in the illegal annexation of Crimea, the United States reaffirms its commitment to the sanctions imposed before and demonstrates unity of the international coalition against the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
