Vadim Solovyov, the State Duma deputy from the Communist Party, addressed the Prosecutor General Yury Chaika with a request to inspect Microsoft and the Windows 10 operating system for espionage, Joinfo.ua informs with reference to Izvestiia.

According to Solovyov, Windows 10 violates the Russian law on personal data.

“According to the consent of the user, the operating system automatically collects and saves the history of visited web-pages, the user’s passwords to web-sites, names of the access points the user logged in and passwords to them,” the request sent to the Prosecutor General states.

The author of the request emphasizes that the collection and processing of data of the Russian Internet users can be conducted only by the companies belonging to the register of data controllers, where Microsoft does not appear.

“Given that a lot of Russian state structures use the Windows operating system, there is a possibility of leak of classified information to foreign intelligence services. In fact, we are talking about espionage,” adds Solovyov.

Microsoft notes that collection of information is carried out only with the consent of the user.
