Military aid to Ukraine will be given if the U.S. elections are won by a contender from the Republican Party, the Governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the Russian media.
“I would send weapons to Ukraine. I would work with NATO to put forces on the eastern border of Poland and in the Baltic nations. I would reinstate and put back in place the missile defense system that we had in Poland and the Czech Republic,” Walker notes.
Also, the issue of arms supplies to Ukraine was raised during the debate by the neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who also wants to be a candidate for president.
“Our Navy is at its smallest size since 1970, our Air Force since 1940. Meanwhile, our enemies become more numerous. Our friends can no longer trust us. When Ukraine was a state with nuclear weapons, they gave up those weapons, expecting that we will protect them, and we do not even give them offensive weapons. We turned our back on Israel, our ally,” he said.
Carson said that if elected as a president, first of all, he “will strengthen the armed forces.”
The televised debates were attended by 10 Republicans with the highest level of public support: the billionaire Donald Trump, the former Governor of Florida Jeb Bush, the governor of Wisconsin Scott Walker, Senator Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, the neurosurgeon Ben Carson, the former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee, the Governor of New Jersey Chris Christie, the Governor of Ohio John Kasich.
