Ukraine has initiated the creation of a buffer zone on the demarcation line in the Donbas, said the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin,  Joinfo.ua reports referring to 5 Kanal.

“We want to withdraw (weapons) 35 km away from each side, creating thus a kind of a security zone – a buffer zone of 35 km,” he said.

He believes that for the effectiveness of this zone the OSCE observers need to be constantly at the key locations and have the right to unrestricted inspections.

“We are ready for this, but those who are supported by the Russians now and are helped to hide any weaponsmust be prepared too,” Klimkin said.

The Foreign Minister added that the OSCE should have an absolute opportunity for such testing and Ukraine should be confident that the withdrawal will not be used for any provocations in the form of new attacks and occupation of additional territories.
