The incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to leave the country. It was stated by the former Russian banker and member of parliament, the former head of the election headquarters of Vladimir Putin, Sergei Pugachev, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Radio Svoboda.

According to him, before heading the government, the current president of Russia wanted to ‘leave’.

“He wanted to leave these positions soon – at that time he was the Director of the Federal Security Service and the Secretary of the Security Council,” said Pugachyov.

“Putin said that he was fed up with everything and wanted to leave. At that time he wanted to do business, to go abroad, he had all kinds of fantasies. I think it was an abstract desire, he had no specific goals. I think that most likely he wanted to go to Germany, where Putin had many friends, besides, he speaks German. He had great ties there. Putin is a spontaneous person.

He did not want to be a president, and wanted to get away from the public authorities. I do not know, maybe not in a minute. But he did have a desire to do so in a year or a few years,” said the former banker.

Pugachyov explaines the aggressive policy of the Kremlin as an ‘insult’ of President Vladimir Putin.

“He believes that the West has underestimated him, lied to him. I think that in some way all this resentment is now poured in all these inadequate actions of the Russian authorities. In addition to this we have to understand that entourage plays a huge role in Putin’s actions. For the last 20 years I can’t think of a leader who would have depended on their environment as he does,” he said.
