According to the National Armed Forces of Latvia and its message on Twitter, the NATO air police was forced to scramble their fighters for interception, as the warplanes of the Russian Air Force were heading to the airspace of the alliance, Joinfo.ua reports.

“Air policing jets on 29 July in international airspace above the Baltic Sea near Latvian border identified aircraft of Russian Armed Forces: three AN-26, one IL-76, four MiG-31, four Su-24,” the message reads.

However, the air space of any of the Baltic countries was not violated.

It should be recalled that earlier, the Armed Forces of Latvia reported the interception of three military aircraft of the Russian Federation.
