Since April, 2014 the number of victims of the war in the Donbas has exceeded 6.8 thousand people, more than 17 thousand were injured, according to the spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Cecile Pouilly.
“Since mid-April 2014 to July 27, 2015, at least 6,832 people (civilian and military) were killed, and at least 17,087 people were injured in the conflict zone in the east of Ukraine,” said Pouilly.
This number also includes 298 victims of the Malaysian Boeing crash.
Pouilly noted that all estimates were rough and were based on the data from the UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine and the World Health Organization.
“These data are incomplete due to gaps in certain geographical areas and time periods, as well as due to generally inferior statements. The UN Monitoring Mission for Human Rights in Ukraine and the World Health Organization believe that the real number of victims is higher,” said Pouilly.
However, the growth in the number of war victims in the Donbas at certain times does not necessarily mean that people were killed at that time, but only indicate the date of registration of death.
