The Russian President Vladimir Putin offered the former prime minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi Russian citizenship and the post of Minister of Economy, Joinfo.ua reports referring to La Stampa.
Berlusconi told about this at the dinner with members of the Forza Italia party in Rome’s restaurant Consolini.
“I think that in Italy, they pushed me to the edge of political life, but Putin has told me that he was ready to give me citizenship and the post of the Minister of Economy”, allegedly said Berlusconi.
The Kremlin, however, does not confirm the data of the Italian media. Responding on Thursday to the question of Interfax, the spokesman for President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, said: “As it is known, Putin and Berlusconi have long-standing friendship. They keep in touch with each other, and it is a truly friendly relationship. And in this particular case we are referring to figurative support of Berlusconi, and it should be taken exactly as the figurative support and not a formal offer to take a formal position, which of course is impossible. ”
It should be recalled that the Court of Naples sentenced the former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to three years in prison, finding him guilty of bribing senators in 2007.
