The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine decided to include the actor Gerard Depardieu in the list of persona non grata, Joinfo.ua reports referring to Ouest-France.
“The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine believes that the actor is “a threat to national security,” the French edition writes.
From now on, distribution of films featuring Depardieu is banned in cinemas and on television. The reason for this decision were the numerous statements that the actor that he “loves Russia and Ukraine, which is part of Russia,” as well as his statements in support of the aggressor – the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Ministry of Culture is planning to officially publish the “black list” on August 3. Besides, Depardieu, the stop-list includes Serbian director Emir Kusturica, American directors Steven Seagal and Oliver Stone, as well as a number of the Russian filmmakers.
The French actor Gerard Depardieu has become a Russian citizen in January 2013. He announced the refusal of French citizenship on the background of the intentions of the President of France to introduce “taxes on the wealthy.”
