Aggressive Russian propaganda has forced the Polish Foreign Ministry and the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands to initiate the creation of a Russian-language channel in the European Union in order to effectively counter false rhetoric of the Kremlin in the media, Joinfo.ua reports referring to Polskie Radio.
“It is a Dutch-Polish initiative, but we would like to see other countries participating in it,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Grzegorz Shetina.
He said that on September 10, Warsaw would host a conference on the topic of project financing.
Shetina stressed that the aim of the project would be to ensure freedom of speech and objective information in Eastern Europe, Russia and the Russian-speaking minority living in eastern Europe.
“It is about creating a new project, something that will guarantee the use of not language of propaganda and aggression, but truthful and reliable information,” the Polish minister said.
He suggests that this Russian-language television would give information that was used on existing channels, information channels, Internet resources and publications in Russian. He also predicts that the project will be launched next year.
