President Vladimir Putin postpones elections to State Duma from December to September 2016

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on postponement of the federal parliamentary elections in 2016 from December to the third Sunday of September. The corresponding document is available on the portal of the legal information.

President Vladimir Putin postponed the elections to the State Duma from December of September 2016, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the Russian media.

Previously, the law on postponement of the elections was adopted by the lower house of the State Duma. Under the document, the elections will be held on the third Sunday in September 2016. All the following elections to the State Duma will also be held on the third Sunday of September.

Also, the law provides for compensation in the form of social and financial guarantees for the deputies of the sixth convocation, who will not be re-elected to the new Duma, organs of the state power of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, or local governments. By December 4, 2016 they will still be provided with monetary pay, parliamentary immunity, service housing, and social insurance.

According to the feasibility study, for this purpose, there are allocated the maximum expenses from the federal budget in the amount of 713,700,000 rubles (1,586,000 rubles for each of the 450 deputies).
