Luhansk People’s Republic to issue passports to 16-year-olds

The LPR militants believe that passports should be issued to teenagers because they are not citizens of Ukraine.

In Luhansk, the militants announced the issuance of passports of the LPR to the adolescents, who have reached the age of 16. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Pavlo Sukhin, the illegitimate head of “the department for citizenship, migration and registration of individuals of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the LPR”, Joinfo.ua informs.

“Introduction of its own passports in the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic is a necessary measure due to the refusal of the Ukrainian side to issue passports to 16-year old adolescents on the territory of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic,” said Pavlo Sukhin at a briefing on Tuesday.

“Ukraine began to sabotage the documentation of its citizens, and at the moment they are still the citizens of Ukraine. This concerns first of all the persons, who have reached the age of 16, who have to receive a passport,” said the pseudoofficial.

Sukhin stressed that many adolescents do not have the possibility to enter the territory of Ukraine to receive the document, and for some it is just not safe, since their parents work and serve in the LPR. That’s why the LPR has decided to issue its passports.
