Russia decided to triple the number of submarines in the Black Sea Fleet by the end of the year. The only submarine B-871 Alrosa will be accompanied by two newly built boats, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to TSN.

“Currently, the first two diesel-electric submarines of the Project 636 ‘Novorossiysk’ and ‘Rostov-on-Don’ are completing preparations for the interfleet transition to the Black Sea Fleet after successful completion of the weapon system testing program in the Northern Fleet,” Captain Igor Dygalo from the Ministry of Defense said.

The submarines will be part of the 4th separate brigade of submarines in Novorossiysk formed in March 2015. The following year, the brigade is supposed to be supplemented by another four submarines.
