The Federal Assembly of Austria has ratified the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. It was reported by Joinfo.ua with reference to the message of Ukraine’s Ambassador to Austria Oleksandr Scherba on Twitter.
“Austria! Ratified!” Scherba wrote.
According to the Ambassador, “The parliamentary majority’s factions voted in favor. The Freedom Party and the Faction of Stronach – against. Now [it should be followed by] the Federal President’s signature.”
Scherba said that the ratification carried out by the lower house of the Parliament. “On July 23 will be the Bundesrat, but there will be no intrigue. The main thing was today,” said the Ambassador.
Before the vote in the Austrian parliament on ratification of the Association Agreement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Sebastian Kurz delievered a speech.
Previously, we reported that for the Association Agreement to enter into force, it must be ratified by all signatories – Ukraine and 28 EU member states. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified the agreement on September 26. In the European Union the ratification process is ongoing. So far, the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement is fully ratified by 21 EU member states out of 28.
It should be recalled that June 10, Germany ratified the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union. Also recently it has been ratified by France and Italy.
July 7 the Agreement was ratified by the Netherlands.
