OSCE PA recognizes Russia as occupant and aggressor

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the approval by an overwhelming majority of members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of two important resolutions attesting the fact of armed aggression against Ukraine conducted by the Russian Federation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the approval by an overwhelming majority of members of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly of two important resolutions attesting the fact armed aggression against Ukraine conducted by the Russian Federation and the international recognition of wrongfulness of detention of the Ukrainian political prisoners in the Russian Federation, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Resolution entitled “The Continuation of Clear, Gross and Uncorrected Violations of OSCE Commitments and International Norms by the Russian Federation” enshrines recognition that Russia’s actions in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, as well as in the parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine are acts of military aggression against Ukraine. The document was prepared by Arthur Herasimov, the Head of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the OSCE PA, and Dean Allison, the Head of Canada’s Delegation to the OSCE PA.

The Resolution on “Abducted and Illegally Detained Ukrainian Citizens in the Russian Federation”, initiated by a member of the Standing Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the OSCE PA and a people’s deputy Ostap Semerak, calls on the Russian Federation for immediate liberation of Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainian citizens illegally detained in Russia.
