As the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko at the joint press conference with President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, 21 of the 28 member countries of the European Union completed the process of ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, reports Joinfo.ua.

“Despite the fact that earlier it was believed that this process would take more than three years, today, a year later, 21 EU states out of 28 have completed the ratification process and another four are in the process,” Petro Poroshenko said.

He also stressed the important role of the European Parliament in ensuring visa-free regime for Ukraine in 2016.

“I believe that the European deputies, most of whom are sincere friends of Ukraine, will make every effort, together with the Ukrainian authorities to ensure that in 2016 the Ukrainians receive the right to travel in the EU,” he added.

At the moment, Austria, Greece and Cyprus have not yet begun the ratification of the Association Agreement. Experts believe that the last two delay the process deliberately.

Earlier, we reported that the North Atlantic Alliance had decided to transfer all the funds provided for Russia for the financing of Ukraine.
