Russian fighter jets wreck NATO’s nerves again by cruising near borders of Sweden

Sweden perceived the aggressive actions by Russia, in particular, the movement of the Russian fighter jets near the borders of Sweden as an occasion to rethink its approach to ensuring the safety of air borders.

Sverker Goranson, the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, told about dangerous encounters of the Swedish and Russian fighter jets near the country’s borders. It is reported by Joinfo.ua with reference to the local newspaper Expressen.

Goranson told about the repeated appearance of the Russian fighter jets near the Swedish air border.

“They disorganize the combat system and apply countermeasures at the collision distance,” the General said.

Russia’s aggressive actions have forced the Swedish pilots to rethink the approach to ensuring the safety of air borders. But this should not be perceived as a withdrawal of troops.

A Swedish military spokesman Jesper Tengroth said that the Russian fighter jets had repeatedly emitted the clouds of false heat targets in front of the Swedish jets. False heat targets are pyrotechnic shells emitted to create infrared hazards for the missiles with infrared self-guidance. Such heat targets are dangerous to other aircraft because they can get into the engine.

It should be recalled that earlier this month a Russian fighter jet nearly rammed the U.S. reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.
