Over the past day, the Middle East MERS coronavirus has infected another person in South Korea. To date, the number of infected has reached 182 people, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the South Korean Renhal news agency.

The number of fatalities remained the same – 31 people. During the day, nine people have recovered fully and have already been discharged from medical facilities. In general, a total of 90 people left the hospitals, which is 49.5% of the total number of cases since the beginning of the MERS coronavirus outbreak in South Korea.

Currently, 2, 467 people are in quarantine, and 12,958 previously isolated people are already at their homes.

In the early stages, this virus does not have special symptoms, it spreads through airborne droplets. Infected people have fever, cough, shortness of breath and rough breathing, but so far, scientists have not understood whether these symptoms are typical for this disease. Therefore, the MERS coronavirus vaccine has not been developed. People with weakened immune systems, chronic lung disease, diabetes and renal failure are at the most risk.

It should be noted that the first evidence of the MERS virus was recorded in Saudi Arabia in 2012, and three years later the cases of infection were identified in 23 countries.

In South Korea, the first fatal case was registered at the beginning of June.
