The United States is planning to deploy heavy military equipment in Poland and the Baltics. There will be also delivered weapons, ammunition, tanks and machines for about 5 thousand servicemen, Joinfo.ua informs referring to Polskie Radio.

In the capital of Estonia, the U.S Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter confirmed the deployment of heavy weapons – it is a response to the aggressive policy of Russia.

In turn, Ambassador Douglas Lute stressed that the deployment of military hardware was not an independent decision of Washington. "We are doing this at the invitation of the governments of these countries. We will not deploy a single tank, armored personnel carrier, humvee or jeep in a state that will not ask us. These requests were formally made in the correspondence," said Lute.

Earlier, Carter said that confrontation between the U.S. and its NATO allies and Russia could continue even if Russian President Vladimir Putin left his post.
