U.S. authorities intend to impose new sanctions against Russia if the insurgents in the Donbas do not stop attacking towns and seizing new territories. It was announced by John Kirby, the Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Joinfo.ua reports.
He noted that the U.S. Department of State was concerned by frequent shellings near Marinka and to northeast of Mariupol.
“All attempts of the separatists to capture a new Ukrainian territory will receive a respond, that will make incur new expenses,” the Spokesman said.
However, he did not specify what kind of sanctions would be imposed, he only said that the U.S. and the EU were united in their attitude toward the events in the Donbas.
“But Russia continues to provide the same support as before. And in any case it is a violation of international law and the sovereignty of Ukraine,” Kirby said.
Kirby pointed out that among the gunmen there were registered a lot of Russian servicemen.
“It’s hard to say how many of them are there exactly, because we do not have the normal information. But the weapons used leave no doubt that a certain level of support from abroad still takes place. It may be the training of officers or some other help,” the Spokesman said.
