Dmitry Medvedev calls IMF loans to Ukraine grand larceny

The Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev reacted to the statement made by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko. The Ukrainian leader called the Russian loan of $ 3 billion provided to the ex-president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych a bribe. Medvedev expressed his opinion on his Facebook page.

“If the $3 billion Russian loan to Ukraine was a bribe, as Mr Poroshenko has called it, then the billions negotiated by Ukrainian leaders with the IMF is grand larceny,” Medvedev wrote.

The fact that the Russian loan of $ 3 billion to Yanukovych was a bribe was claimed by Poroshenko yesterday in an interview with Bloomberg. According to him, the purchase of Eurobonds amounting to this sum from Ukraine guaranteed Moscow Kyiv’s focus on Russia and the refusal of Yanukovych to sign the agreement on association with the EU.
