The White House represented by its Speaker Josh Earnest said that the U.S. authorities had the obligation to protect the territorial integrity of its allies in the NATO military bloc, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Voice of America.
“[The United States] has an obligation to protect the territorial integrity of our NATO allies. We signed a NATO treaty that provides for the defense of our allies and that is a treaty that the United States and this president is serious about upholding,” said Earnest.
In addition, he stressed that Washington’s plans to deploy the American troops and military equipment in the countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltic States is “still in the early stages of the policy making process, but is consistent with strategy that we have previously pursued.”
It has already triggered resent in the Kremlin.
