The Ambassador of the USA to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt urged the American companies, which are considering the possibility of participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, to think twice before taking part in it.

Geoffrey Pyatt addressed to all American companies, which are considering participation in the SPIEF. “Russia disregards the fundamental principles of international law. It is not time for “business as usual,” he said.

“Want to see American businesses join us in sending strong message to Kremlin – must comply with Minsk, end occupation of Crimea,” said Pyatt.

In addition, the Ambassador noted that given the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine, “the economic and reputational risks of attending the St. Petersburg are very clear.”

It should be recalled that Angela Merkel and U.S. President Barack Obama shared one view with respect to the maintenance of the sanctions regime against Russia. Obama also said that the in-force period of the sanctions must be linked to the full implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia and respect of the sovereignty of Ukraine.
