It was reported by the Minister of Justice Pavlo Petrenko in an interview with 5 Kanal, Joinfo.ua reports.

According to Petrenko, the filing of the lawsuit made by the European Parliament became possible after Ukraine formally notified the Council of Europe of the Russian occupation of Crimea and the Donbas.

"After our compellation, the European Parliament appealed to the International Criminal Court so that the Hague Tribunal started to investigate these crimes committed by the Russian government in Ukraine," Petrenko said.

The Ukrainian Minister noted that Ukraine also had included the Attorney General's Office evidence of illegal actions of Russia in Crimea, the Donetsk and Luhansk regions in the trial bundles.

Petrenko is convinced that collected evidence is weighty enough, and Putin and his inner circle would be brought to justice first and foremost.
