Russia intends to force Ukraine supply engines for its frigates via courts

The company reported that the shipyards of the OSC "has faced temporary difficulties associated with the equipment of frigates of the Admiral Grigorovich-class and Admiral Gorshkov-class with gas turbine engines due to unscrupulous actions of the neighboring state." Now, the corporation intends to demand from the Ukrainian side the execution of the paid contracts by judicial process, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to the press service of the company.

Russia expects to create its own turbines at the end of 2017 or in early 2018. Saturn Scientific Production Association Joint Stock Company (Saturn NPO JSC) will launch the deliveries of Russian gas turbine engines for the Russian Navy, built at the shipyards of the corporation. The transfer of frigates with propulsion plants released under the import substitution program to the Navy is scheduled for early 2020.

In addition, there are already solutions regarding the production of gearboxes for propulsion systems with GTE at the facilities of the St. Petersburg plant "Zvezda," the company informs.

The first three patrol ships of the Admiral Grigorovich-class, built for the Black Sea Fleet, and the first two ships of the Admiral Gorshkov-class are equipped with turbine engines of the Ukrainian origin. In the future, the frigates of both classes will receive Russian power plants, the characteristics of which will surpass the Ukrainian analogues, the company assures.

It should be recalled that Russia can not complete the construction of warships without Ukrainian engines.
