The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission asks for financial support from the member countries. It was stated by Alexander Hug, the Deputy Head of the OSCE SMM, during the meeting of the Ukraine – NATO Inter-Parliamentary Council, Joinfo.ua informs.
Before that, the representative of the German Parliament has criticized the OSCE Mission in Ukraine for improper evidentiary basis in its observations in the conflict zone.
"First, you see the movement of troops and equipment, write the maximum report, and then do not confirm this information. And if I were an ordinary German citizen, I would have asked, "who do I have to believe?". Why, when people fly into space, we can not obtain the evidence from the air?" asked the Deputy Head of the OSCE SMM.
Meanwhile, Alexander Hug said that the observers did not have access to many areas of the conflict zone.
"Our budget allows us to work until March next year. Financially we can work as we are now, but we also need to strengthen technical equipment, particularly, the equipment allowing us to monitor the territory from the air. Therefore, we need the continued support of all 57 member countries."
He also complained that sometimes the mission "is cornered" in terms of expectations for the results of the monitoring.
