The death toll in the explosion at a petrol station in the Ghanaian capital Accra has already reached 256 people, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Vibe Ghana.
At the same time, the rescuers working on the site of the explosion assume that the death toll may still rise as the clearance of debris is ongoing.
According to preliminary data, one of portable generators caught fire. Apparently, one of the underground tanks containing liquefied gas cracked under the pressure of water. The exhaust gas came into contact with the flame and blazed up. The fire quickly engulfed the entire gas station where the fuel tanks began to explode.
