Russian President Vladimir Putin and his associates are preparing for serious negotiations on Crimea and it is possible that they can get away from the peninsula. Today, there is no doubt that Russia will lose Crimea, says Refat Chubarov, the Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people and MP of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Apostrof.
"I am absolutely sure that both Putin and his entourage are preparing for tough talks on Crimea, they do not exclude the possibility of their leaving the peninsula, but in such a way that it does not look like a defeat. They will try to save face. Crimea is saturated with modern weapons even for global international relations. They will threaten almost all southern part of NATO – Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria – with these weapons. I'm not an expert in the field of armaments, but if you rely on those characteristics given by military experts, today Russia and its weapons pose a real threat to these countries, which are now forced to strengthen their defense capability," Chubarov said.
He also commented on the fact that the occupation administration banned the Crimean Tatars to enter their homeland.
"I'll be honest, for me it is expulsion (the decision to prohibit Chubarov to enter Crimea was adopted in July 2014 – Ed.). I am in my country, I work here. But it is difficult to explain what it is like when you can not go to your home, you can not be with family, your loved ones to those, who have not experienced this. But another thing hurts even more – you realize that this had already happened to your parents, relatives, and you repeat their fate. It is very painful. Knowing that those, who wanted to kill your parents when they were children, who wanted to destroy your people by holding them in the places of exile for half a century, returned to Crimea and almost messed it. We have just begun to realize that we are coming to life. We have children and grandchildren, who speak Crimean Tatar, go to schools, there are mosques, many fears among Russian and Ukrainians in Crimea, whose minds had been cluttered with Soviet propaganda for so many years, disappeared … And now, those, who were 50 years ago are back again and use the same dirty methods.
At the beginning, one woman told me how she disputed with supporters of annexation, and she was told, "What are you so worried about, maybe there will be something good." I told her, too: "Do not despair, may be Allah will give something good." She replied: "I do not know whether Allah will, but these people never will." I asked: "Why do you say that?". She said: "If you want to do something good, you do not break in". Indeed, no one comes to do good things with weapons, masks, tanks and planes. I have no doubt that Russia will go away from there. I just can not name a day, but I'm sure it will happen much sooner than the Kremlin would like it to happen. I believe in it, I can see how Russia is going to the abyss, although I do not wish ill to its citizens. But it is their choice too. Why Ukraine was able to rebel against tyrants, and Russia still can not afford it?" says Chubarov.
