Peskov said that Putin's visit to Italy would take place next week. The president plans to visit Italy and attend the world exhibition Expo 2015 in Milan, Joinfo.ua reports.
"The possibility of such a meeting (with the Pope) is being discussed," said Peskov.
It should be recalled that on June 2, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow rejected the invitation to visit Krakow in 2016, where he was supposed to meet with Pope Francis. The press service of the Russian Orthodox Church said that the invitation was received, but "so far, it is impossible to respond positively." The reason may be the position of the Conference of Polish Bishops regarding the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
