This weekend, at the Castle Elmau in the Bavarian Alps, the meeting of the Great Seven will be held without Putin, Joinfo.ua informs with reference to Der Spiegel.
"Putin is not allowed to take part in the meeting, but, in fact, he would have been its most important guest," writes Stefan Kuzmany, a columnist at the German magazine.
Kuzmany believes that it was necessary to invite Putin and to "punish" him in such a way. Because by isolating the Russian president from the international community, there may be achieved even greater support for Putin's policy among the Russians.
"War can not be stopped in silence. No one else but the seven most influential people on the planet had the best opportunity to convince Putin. They had a chance to do it face to face," Kuzmany writes.
It should be recalled that earlier it was reported that the G7 summit in June would discuss new sanctions against Russia.
