According to the Minister, the Russian Federation recognized that Ukraine intends to implement the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement with the EU, and ceased to require to make changes to the document, Joinfo.ua reports.
"Two weeks ago we had a meeting, which was attended by the European Commissioner for Trade and the Minister of Economy of Russia. The main outcome of this meeting is that Russia will not require making changes to the agreement. They realized that we would go forward in the direction of implementation and they do not require to postpone the full implementation of the FTA," said Pavlo Klimkin to journalists on Tuesday.
According to him, Russia insists that the implementation of the FTA will lead to negative consequences for the Russian Federation.
"We believe that there will be positive effects for Russia. We have agreed to work in three areas, we will work on technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and we believe it is very important to Ukraine… And the issues of customs administration," the minister said.
Earlier, the European Commission ruled out any further postponements or changes to the agreement on free trade zone between the EU and Ukraine.
