According to Kereselidze, Saakashvili's appointment to the post of the governor of the Odessa region is a sovereign right of Ukraine, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to Georgia Online.
"Whether we like it or not, it is their sovereign right, it is inconceivable to escalate or spoil our relationship, and it should not be on the agenda since we have to put national interests first, those friendly, collaborating, traditional historical ties Georgia and Ukraine have. No other decision should affect the relations between the two countries," said Kereselidze.
He noted that Ukraine is in a difficult situation, in a state of war, and "it needs development, solidarity, support, and Georgia, its power and its every branch is always ready to support it."
Meanwhile, the United National Movement believes that Ukraine's success will directly reflect on Georgia. Mikheil Machavariani, a representative of the party, regards negative reviews on the part of the authorities about Saakashvili's appointment to a new post as shameful.
"The leaders of two countries responded negatively to this appointment – Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of the country, which treats Georgia with enmity, and current President Margvelashvili. I'm not surprised about this kind of shameful judgement on the part of people, who have plunged the economy into such a position, increased crime, are irresponsible and mindless," the politician added.
It should be recalled that Saakashvili was appointed as the governor of the Odessa region.
