Ukrainian border guards say Russia threatens with ‘military fist’ from Transnistria

Viktor Nazarenko, the Head of the State Border Service, believes that today there is a real military threat to Ukraine from the direction of Transnistria.

Viktor Nazarenko, the Head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, believes that today there is a real military threat to Ukraine from the direction of Transnistria, Joinfo.ua reports with reference to 5 Kanal.

"The situation in the Ukrainian-Moldovan region is complex, in particular in its central part, on the so-called Transnistrian segment. The threat from Transnistria is both of military and of technological border nature," said Viktor Nazarenko.

"We consider this site as threatening regarding border security," he said.

The unrecognized republic has already called Ukraine a party of the Transnistrian conflict.

Earlier, on the territory of unrecognized Transnistria, Russian snipers launched military exercises aimed at drilling the attacks of small tactical groups.

It should be noted that on the territory of unrecognized Transnistrian Moldovan Republic are deployed the units of the 14th Russian Army. In addition, at the military depots in the village of Kolbasna of the Rybnitsky district are deployed more than 20 thousand tons of munitions (bombs, shells, mines and grenades).

In 1999, at the OSCE summit in Istanbul, Russia committed to withdraw its troops and weapons from Transnistria, but this promise has not yet been fulfilled.
