Russian President Vladimir Putin designated the data on those killed during the special operation in peacetime as the state secret. The corresponding decree was published on the official website of legal information, Joinfo.ua reports.
Previously, only information about the losses of personnel during the hostilities was identified by the Ministry of Defense as secret information.
Moreover, the information on persons considered by intelligence for cooperation on a confidential basis is defined as classified information too. Initially, only information about those individuals, who contributed to the work of the security services, was considered as classified.
The documents referring to state secrets were approved by the decree of November 30, 1995.
It should be noted that in early 2000s, the majority of special operations conducted by the Russian law enforcement officers on liberation of hostages ended up in numerous deaths of the latter.
