It was stated by the Czech General Petr Pavel, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, who will take office on June 1, 2015, Joinfo.ua reports referring to Radio Prague.
At the same time, Pavel is convinced that NATO "would fail to respond adequately" to such a situation.
Pavel points out that Russia may make the decision regarding occupation of the Baltic countries in a few hours, while the Alliance, composed 28 countries, will agree upon a common position much longer.
Pavel says that NATO had to make a difficult decision whether to start a war with Russia, which is able to apply nuclear weapons.
Earlier, Philip Breedlove, Supreme Allied Commander Europe accused Russia of irresponsible nuclear threats.
