NATO can not make a decision on granting Ukraine weapons, since it is the responsibility of member governments of the alliance. It was told by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, Joinfo.ua reports referring to the Russian television channel Dozhd.
He noted that NATO gave Ukraine political support and contributed to the reform of the Ukrainian army.
The Secretary General said that in the case of Ukraine's application to accede to NATO, it would be treated like any other.
"The decision on whether to accept Georgia and Ukraine into NATO or not, will be made by 28 NATO countries," said the Secretary General.
He said that no country outside NATO could veto and prevent the entry of independent states into NATO.
Stoltenberg said that "it is unacceptable that a country like Russia annexed a part of Ukraine and continues to destabilize the east of Ukraine."
