Intelligence agencies of Norway report that their colleagues from Russia tried to recruit Norwegians as their agents. It was announced by Arne Christian Haugstøyl, the head of counterintelligence of Norway, Joinfo.ua informs with reference to the local TV and radio company NRK.
"Russia wanted to learn about our methods. Thus, the Russian intelligence service tried to enlist its people into the Norwegian Police Security Service, and they could give this information," said Haugstøyl.
According to him, they tried to recruit both indigenous Norwegians and Norwegian citizens of Russian origin.
However, he stressed that he was not sure about this one hundred per cent, he said that the Russian special services had not achieved their objectives.
Meanwhile, the Russian security services have recently stated that they had detained a citizen of Lithuania, who had allegedly received some secret documents from the Russians.
