The Armed Forces of Latvia noticed two ships, which belong to the Russian Navy, in the special economic zone of the country again. It was announced by the Ministry of Defense on itsTwitter, Joinfo.ua reports.
"Armed Forces on 20 MAY in LV EEZ 10 nmi from territ. waters spotted RU Navy's Kilo-class submarine, and hydrographic survey ship GS-270," the message reads.
At the same time it was clarified that both ships belonged to the Russian Navy.
It should be noted that since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine and aggravation of relations between the West and the Kremlin, the ships and planes of the Armed Forces of Russia have increasingly approached the air and sea borders of the NATO countries, including the Baltic states.
So far, the Russian Army has not violated air and sea space, but in the case of an aircraft there is a threat to civil aviation.
According to NATO officials, by such actions Russia demonstrates its power and monitors the reaction of the Alliance.
